I sure hope so! It is such a joy to be able to keep God in the lessons I teach. I emphasize that a horse is a precious creature, entrusted to us to care for. That riding should be a joy and never a chore because God, as our Heavenly Daddy, loves to see us enjoy ourselves! He created us for His pleasure and it truly gives Him great pleasure to watch us have fun.

Well the lessons continue to get better. Penny is proving herself an excellent lesson horse for the beginner. With Ashley, who's timid and nervous, Penny walks very slowly and carefully. She's tolerant of jiggling on her back and the hands on her mouth. Such a good mare!
Then when Courtney gets on, she realizes that she isn't a kid; isn't as scared and has ridden before, so Penny moves out more and tests her. Four times in a row, Penny went to the outgate before Courtney finally stopped letting her get away with it!

Well, if she passes her "test" on Saturday, Ashley will get her Beginner Completion Certificate and be moved up to "Advanced Beginner!"
I see lots of posting at the walk in her future with the goal of trotting on the lunge line by April.
I'm hoping that her parents will agree to two lessons a week. She truly loves it, is really showing improvement and I know that an extra lesson will certainly help.

SHE PASSED! #woohoo# She got an 85 on her written test and successfully completed her test ride. Here's Ashley headed toward the ground poles. Now she moves onto Advanced Beginner where she will start trotting on the lunge line and working on posting.

Yay!!!!!!!! I've got another student coming in! CROSS's/COTH's own, Gnalli's, youngest daughter, Jaime, has grown up riding but has done western and saddle seat (TWH's). Now she wants to learn hunter-seat equitation and jumping. Ginger came to the barn last night to buy some hay from the farm manager and brought Jamie along. She went ga-ga over Penny, so after P inhaled her dinner, I brought her out, snapped the leadline to either side of the halter and gave Jamie a leg up bareback. She went into the ring and got a 15 minute mini-feel-each-other-out "lesson." She loved it. After she got off, she gave me a hug and said "Thank you." I asked her "So, you wanna come ride with me and learn?" "YES MAAM!" she says I reminded her: it isn't all riding here. It's tests, it's work and there's no showing. She was alllll for it. I tell ya. That little kid is a pistol. Cute as a button but tough and scrappy. She's a terrific rider BUT.... we have our work cut out for us. I have to undo a lot of habits she's learned over the years. However, I don't see it taking too long. She's very eager to learn and is loaded with confidence. #w00t#
