I hope this is the right place to post this. I'm so excited #w00t#
Here's a copy of a post I made on HC on 10-11:
Since I started re-training Samson nearly 2 weeks ago, he has changed SO much I can't believe it!!
K, here's how he was 3 weeks ago: *I'd go out to catch him, he'd turn tail and run.
*I'd go to saddle him, he'd dance and have a tantrum.
*I'd go to mount him, he'd back up so I couldn't get to the stirrup.
*I'd go to ride him, he'd prance, pull at the bit, toss his head, and do a weird quickstep spiderwalk thingy.
Today:
*Went to catch him, he stood perfectly still (still working on the come to me part)
*Didn't even twitch when I tacked him up.
*Stood still for mounting (though he still wants to take off soon as I'm seated)
*Gave pretty nicely to the bit (this being the first time I've actually gotten that far)
*WALKED when I asked him to #193213#
Things to still work on:
*Not taking off as soon as I'm mounted.
*Giving to the bit a little better.
*Go through all the gaits without a fuss
*other fine-tuning
Then the final test will be if he'll do it for others. I'm hoping maybe someone will be more apt to buy him if he's a well-behaved sweetheart He's gotta have something good going for him. I think he's had a really rough life
And here's an update from 10-13:
Today was a great day. When I went out to the roundpen, he was seeking for/giving affection, which is a BIG thing #clap# and he was a pretty good boy. When the farrier came today, he couldn't believe the changes in him. I'm glad, too, cuz he needed some changes LOL I had someone inquiring about him, but she decided against him I'm kinda bummed, cuz I really want to find him a good home, and she sounded like a good potential owner
And today's update (hopefully with pictures!):
He's doing pretty well now. STill working on the walking rather than trotting. Working on turns. He actually came to me when I whistled the other day. Talk about improvement! But I am discovering other probs as I go along. No other potential buyers have shown up, either **sniff** Anyway, I'm gonna try to post some pics here. please ignore how horrible I look and concentrate on how well he's doing LOL
Some flexing the neck:
some walking/trotting:
playing follow the leader:
and givin some luv afterwards
OH yah, and he is getting better about standing for me to mount #jay# OK I'm shutting up now #blah#
